Vallejo TRUE METALLIC METAL (TMM) is a completely redesigned line of metallic acrylic paints for miniatures, models and figures. The goal is to achieve the most realistic metal effect possible using true metallic pigments, high coverage and easy application with both brush and airbrush. This range is divided into 4 categories that correspond to the stages of the painting process – from the highest highlights to the deepest shadows, ideally over black, grey or another primer. TMM Base – the main metal color, basic metallic shades (steel, iron, bronze, gold, etc.), used as the main coat for metallic surfaces, balanced coverage, shine and saturation, ideal as the first layer after primer, can also be used on its own without additional layers, can be mixed with each other to create custom shades. TMM Light – highlights and reflections, the brightest metallic shades, used to highlight edges and highest light points, provide a realistic metal shine in direct light, smooth and clean gloss, contain a high amount of fine pigments. TMM Shade – wash (can be used with brush or airbrush without thinning), for shadows and deep tones, darker metallic shades with a more subdued shine, used for shading recesses (similar to the Xpress range – creates depth and height), can be mixed with Base for smooth transitions. TMM Airbrush – ready to use directly in the airbrush (no thinning required), extra fine pigments that do not clog the nozzle (0.3 mm nozzle, preferably 2 bar pressure), ideal for larger surfaces, gradients, smooth light and shadow transitions, fast coverage without visible brush strokes. The paints must be shaken thoroughly because metallic pigments settle at the bottom. You can use a mixing ball directly in the bottle. For best results, apply multiple thin layers rather than one thick layer. It is better not to thin too much, but you can thin with Vallejo Thinner 70524 18ml, 73524 60ml (for brush) or Airbrush Thinner 71261 18ml, 71361 60ml, 71161 200ml (for airbrush). After use, clean the airbrush thoroughly, as metallic pigments can build up. It is not recommended to mix with matte mediums – it loses its shine. Clean with Vallejo Cleaner 28900 85ml (for brush) or Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner 71099 85ml, 71199 200ml (for airbrush). Be careful with varnishing so the metallic shine does not disappear, Vallejo Polyurethane Varnish Gloss is recommended, and preferably only with airbrush due to very thin layers. For proper use, it is recommended to study the BSL system (Base-Shadow-Light) from Vallejo in the book 75091 Color BSL System (EN).
